Humana, Pfizer in health care research collaboration agreement

Humana has entered into a five-year research collaboration with Pfizer to search new ideas and ways to improve the quality, outcomes and costs of the health care delivery system for senior citizens and other populations.

Humana’s experience in health care and Pfizer’s expertise in researching and developing medicines will bring together data and scientific information to better understand patient needs and the effectiveness of treatments.

Both companies are planning to bring their researchers and health care experts to study key issues and deliver interventions to reduce and manage chronic conditions including pain, cardiovascular disease, and Alzheimer’s disease.

Pfizer Primary Care Medicines Development Group senior vice president Steven Romano said the partnership will help improve outcomes and health for patients.

"Together we will strive to find new solutions to address the issues of chronic illnesses that are treated in the primary care setting," Romano said.
