Illumina offers RapidTrack Whole Genome Sequencing Service

Illumina has introduced the RapidTrack Whole Genome Sequencing Service (RapidTrack WGS) to deliver a whole human genome in less than two weeks.

The service leverages Illumina’s new HiSeq 2500 sequencing system, which is capable of sequencing a complete human genome in one day.

Illumina president and chief executive officer Jay Flatley said the company offers researchers access to the platform’s capabilities through RapidTrack WGS and FastTrack Services.

"Additionally, we will shortly validate the HiSeq 2500 in our CLIA laboratory allowing fast response clinical sequencing," Flatley added.

The sample-to-data cycle time for a complete human genome is five days with the new service, as a result of the combined expertise of an accelerated sample preparation protocol and the company’s new iSAAC genome alignment software.

RapidTrack WGS guarantees a turnaround of less than 14 days, according to the company.
