Premier grants octylseal agreement to Medline

PBR Staff Writer Published 27 January 2012

The Premier healthcare alliance has granted a new agreement to Medline Industries for its octylseal tissue adhesive.

Octylseal is a wound closure tissue adhesive that is said to provide a strong, non-invasive alternative to topical sutures.

It is also used as a microbial barrier or dressing and helps reduce the time patients spend in the operating and emergency room and eliminate several challenges, such as surgical site trauma, inflammation, and other complications often seen with traditional suturing.

The three-year agreement between the two companies will begin in April 2012.

Premier is a performance improvement alliance of over 2,500 US hospitals and 80,000-plus other health care sites using the power of collaboration to lead the transformation to high quality, cost-effective care.
