Roche, BioLamina partner to develop new cell culture systems

Switzerland-based drug manufacturer Roche has signed a research and development agreement (R&D) with Sweden-based BioLamina to jointly develop new cell culture systems for various applications, including stem cell research.

As per the agreement, Roche will provide R&D funding and scientific support to BioLamina.

The financial terms and conditions of the deal were undisclosed.

Roche’s Biochemical Reagents and Custom Biotech division head Ruedi Stoffel said the new partnership aims to develop laminin-based culture systems, which provide biologically relevant, standardized environments.

"We are looking forward to this collaboration to build on the revolutionary cell cultivation techniques developed by our colleagues at the Karolinska Institute and BioLamina," Stoffel added.
